Everything You Need to Know about the Big Games

There are two big games this weekend.

The Super Bowl

and The Puppy Bowl

It just so happens that I live with a football expert and a puppy expert so I thought I would see if they had any thoughts to share about the big games for this weekend.

We’ll start with our resident football expert for thoughts about the SuperBowl.

Me:  “So Max, would you like to share any thoughts about the Superbowl?”

Max:  “Sure!  You already know who’s playing….right?”

Me:  “I know that it’s not the Vikings or the Broncos.”

Max:  “You know Mom, you’re really not all that fun when it comes to discussing football.”

Me:  “I know.  I’m sorry.  Maybe give me some basic info people like me should know.”

The Game – It’s the 47th SuperBowl.  It will be played at the Super Dome in New Orleans.  Kick off is on Sunday at 6:30 pm ET.

The Teams – The Ravens of Baltimore and the San Francisco 49ers

The Coaches – For the Ravens, John Harbaugh and for the 49ers, Jim Harbaugh.  They are brothers.

Players to watch – Ravens – Ray Lewis, one of the greatest linebackers in history and he’s retiring after this year.  Joe Flacco, the QB, totally underrated and Ed Reed a Safety and a crucial player. Ray Rice, workhorse running back who is also underrated. For the 49ers – Collin Kaepernick, QB, just started at mid season, Patrick Willis a linebacker, the best after Ray Lewis and Randy Moss, a wide receiver who used to play for the Vikings and has an attitude problem.

Those are some facts to make you sound smart at your Super Bowl Party.  Now here are Max’s Game Day Predictions:

Score:  Ravens  24  San Francisco  20

MVP – Joe Flacco, passing for 294 yards, 19-28, 2 TD and 1 INT

MVP Runner-up – Ray Lewis, 13 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, one fumble recovery.

Ravens Player to Watch Stats: Ray Rice, running for 95 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown

49ers Player to Watch Stats: Colin Kaepernick, passing for 241 yards, 14-22, 1 TD and 1 INT, rushing for 55 yards on seven carries — Randy Moss, 2 catches for 18 yards

The Ravens will force at least 2 turnovers

Beyonce will not lip sync the halftime show

And finally, Max’s Super Bowl snack recommendation:  Green Mill wings and icy cold Coke.

And now for our Puppy expert.

Me:  “So Anne do you want to share your thoughts on the Puppy Bowl?”

Anne:  “There’s a Puppy Bowl? Seriously?  Can Toga be in it!?”

Me: “I don’t think so, I’m pretty sure they’ve already picked the teams for this year.  Check out the line up and tell me what you think.”

Anne:  “Ahhhhh!  they’re all so cute!  Can we get one?!”

Me:  “No.”

The Game – It’s the 9th Puppy Bowl.  There is a Kitten Half Time Show and Hedgehog cheerleaders.  Kick off is at 3:00 pm ET on Animal Planet.

The Teams – There are no teams.  Puppy Bowl is an individual sport.  The Puppy who brings the squeaky toy over the goal line the most times wins.  And if Toga were playing she would totally win.

The Coaches – No coaches but there is a referee.

Players to Watch – Althea, Aurora, Blitz, Chestnut, Daffodil, Trinka, Fitz, Magnolia, Eli, Pearl and Shadow.  They’re all so cute though, it’s hard to decide.

Here are Anne’s Puppy Bowl Predictions:

Cutest Puppy – Althea

Highest Scoring Puppy – Eli, because he looks tough

MVP – Shadow

The Kitten Half Time Show – most kittens will meow live but at least one will lip sync

Anne’s Puppy Bowl Snack recommendation:   french fries and a milk shake (any flavor).

So there you have it.  Everything you need to know about this weekends big games.
