Why Is It?

I’m thinking I’m going to start a regular series called Why Is It?  So that we can delve into the great mysteries in life.

Disclaimer:  When I say “regular” what I actually mean is, sometimes, occasionally, now and then, when the mood strikes.  I just want to be clear.  Remember Meatful Mondays?  I also regularly get up at 5:30 am and exercise.

For the first installment of the Why Is It? series I would like to pose these related questions.

Why is it, that when your eight year old loses one of her favorite purple leopard print winter gloves, suddenly none of the other 14 pairs of extra winter gloves fit any more, despite the fact that your sure they fit a month ago?

Why is it that, after an extensive search of both home and school, you decide you will have to run out to Target to purchase a new pair, so that said eight year olds fingers won’t freeze off during recess the next day, which would cause a whole list of problems, at the top of which, it would be difficult to play mine craft, only to discover that Target no longer carries winter gloves?

No longer carries winter gloves, even though it is the middle of February, with 6-8 inches of snow on the ground, sub zero wind chills and blizzard warnings on tap for later in the week and it is Minnesota.  No winter gloves.  But if I would like to buy my eight year old a bikini, which I most definitely do not, but if I did, there would be a plethora of choices, a plethora I tell you.

So, two more stores and two hours later with lots of sorting and sifting and searching through the bottom of the clearance bins, success!  A pair of winter gloves in the appropriate size.  They were not purple leopard print but it did appear that they would keep ones hands warm and dry, which I think should carry at least as much weight as purple leopard print.  Turns out there are differing opinions on this, but warm and dry and no other options won out in the end.

So now for the biggest question of the day.  Why is it, after all of that, after searching the home and the school for the original glove and three stores for a replacement, why is it a day later the missing gloves miraculously re-appears.  Why?

These are just a few of the questions I find myself pondering……

I am laughing. I’ve been there too but we live quite a ways from a store that carries them, so often the kids went in an extra pair of mine until the lost glove was found…

    Thanks for the smile…

It’s time’s like this that living in town comes in handy. : ) And she could have worn my gloves except the 11 year old had beaten her to it and left them in his locker at school. We do have a couple of back up pairs now, so we should – fingers crossed – make it till spring. : )

I’ll play–Why is it that WY teases you with a little spring in February–and giggles as the wind chill changes to single digits the next day?

I’m in… Why is it that circumstances such as these put everything but this on the back burner? Why is it that you went to the store in search of those new gloves? Because you love her so:) You’re an awesome mom Jody!
