Rodeo Week

IMG_0195

In the midst of moving cattle, fighting fire and playing at the lake, it was also Fair and Rodeo week last week.  And Anne also had a bout with the stomach flu. I’m tired just remembering it.

Hadley and Ashley competed in the Rodetto.  Hadley took checks home in the Keyhole, Goat Tail Tying and the Pole Bending and Ashley took a check home from the Barrel Race.  It was a successful couple of days.

Lots of waiting happens at the Rodetto. Here Hadley and Ashley are getting some last minute advice from the Fair Board VP

Another nice run Ashley

In the Keyhole race you have to run your horse into a keyhole pattern, turn him and run out as fast as you can, without stepping on the lines

Just like that

And now we’ll rake……

Apparently flagging the Rodetto only pays well enough to buy half a hat or maybe Terry just trying to start a new fashion fad

All the fun was followed up with the traditional milk shake extravaganza at Johnny J’s.

It just doesn’t get any better

And then the girls helped with the Muttin Bustin at the Rodeo.  They helped the kids get geared up with their vests and helmets, giving them a pep talk before the event and then handing out awards.

Hang on tight!

The announcer wanted this champ to give Anne a kiss but he opted for a high five instead and he won a new pair of boots!

It can’t be all work and no play so off we headed to the carnival.

And just because I’m sure you really need to know this.  Here is a picture of the tallest horse in the world standing next to the shortest horse in the world and also the largest pig in the world.

It cost us $1 to get in to see this so I’m doing you a pretty big favor by posting a picture

IMG_1708

Now you owe me $2 – one for the horse picture and one for pig

The Cervi boys put on a great rodeo, as usual.

DSC00617 DSC00619Kim, Jason and Casey helped run the horses at the end of the rodeo which is really impressive but I did not get a single picture of it.  So you’ll just have to trust me that it’s cool.  But here’s a picture of Casey and her mini-me Anne.

And here is our favorite Fair Board member pictured with a future Fair Board member.

As fun as it is, it’s kind of good thing that Fair week is only once a year.
